Great work!!! Very realistic!

Avatar Dreln

 12/08/03 @760

This is very well done. Good job. The only things that look odd to me is that the part in her hair looks unnatural (should b more stray hairs around) and tendons that go to her collar bones in her neck seem to sharp. Higher up on the neck they should look more like thicker muscles as opposed to thin tendons. Then they should turn into the thin lines near the collar bone. Juts me two cents though:)

This is a magnificent model and the textures are amazing. Good stuff misu.

arenhaus

 12/08/03 @781

True enough, the neck anatomy is unconvincing. The ear is somewhat deformed (too open), and the hair could use a less sharp border. The texture of the lips seems weird to me, too. Otherwise, good work.

WOW!! This is really awesome!

I was just about to post my own 3d-face... but now when I saw this one... well, lets just say it like this: everything else fades compared to this one.

How did you make the hair? Is it done with some kind of plug-in?

+7 (that's all I can give you)

misu

 12/08/03 @939

Per : thx! I made hair with many planes converted to mesh and modeled like haircut . All texture was hand painted in photoshop .

Per

 12/08/03 @946

Really?! That's amazing!
Do you have a wireframe-render of the hair? And perhaps one of the face?
How many polygons are there total?

Beautiful :o *rightclicksave* Everything about it is perfect. I especially love the little "imperfectons" you put in on her face which made it all that more real. As for the "weird lip texture", it's called lipgloss guys! ;)

Ewik

 12/10/03 @071

Great!!!Nice face and expression, I like that marks on her skin, so subttle, looks very real, fact, her arm isn't perfect but you know what i llike most? Her hair over the ear-look like cut out a little bit-favourite play of young girls (I guess you didn't mean to but looks funny)

Avatar Nailati

 12/10/03 @287

Amazing. I can almost feel her skin. I especially like the ear and the undereyes—there are subtle differences in the thickness and luminosity of the skin here, just like on a real human. I too think the lip texture is slightly off, not because it's glossy, but because it seems too regular and fine. This is, however, a small nitpick in a wonderful piece.

Sedone

 12/10/03 @646

The ear does seem strangely shaped and perhaps too far back on the skull. Otherwise excellent and very believable.

Avatar RavenVegeta

 12/10/03 @966

ahh ... yeah now i see what was bugging me about it, noticed like a long list of things actually that could do with some tweaking.

it's no so much the perfections, more the imperfections and the balance.
there is light from several directions that throw things off. The shape of the ear and the lobe are both a little underdeveloped which throws the side of the head out of wack a lil. The bottom lip is too smoothed, as in someone has been lazy and thrown a nurbs over it without caging the shape first. Good way to get around this is to look at your own lip and how it actually hangs over a little at the bottom.
Same goes for the top and indent upto the nose, they're just too rounded (bane of every artist is the urge to use subdivisions and nurbs to add smoothness over detail).

the neck also blends into the jaw line which with this girls face wouldn't be the case, infact only men have necks like that... womens the jaw putrudes a tad on each side, to a noticable degree. Nice to kiss over, a bugger to actually 3d though hahaa
the cheeks are also a little to rounded with the cheekbone almost non-existant could do with less fat (to go with the rest of her which is thin and slender) and actually move it up a little, doing this with a softselection and move should slide that cheek muscle up quite well. Gives it a better shape too.

A few mre dents and lines to show the skull outline a bit better ... i can see a few more quibbles with the clothes and particularly that pendant. Surprised didn't notice them first time, the texture has done a superb job of shifting focus.

It is a fantastic job ^_^ but just had to mention those little quirks.
Sometime i must remember when i have the time to sign back upto toe CGTalk again.

Avatar mincedniku

 12/12/03 @106

Wow. Beautiful work. Very Square-esque. X3 The only thing that really stands out enough to bug me is her ear. The earlobe seems too stiff/sharp.. or something; should be more smooth. She reminds me a lot of a girl I knew. Must be the eyes. ^^ The tiny moles/freckles are a really nice touch.

wmorris

 12/12/03 @120

Raven. The only thing in this image that I think might be outside the range of human anatomy is the before mentioned tendons in the neck. Other than that your crazy! People sometimes have chubbier cheeks and large or oddly shaped ears. I think the part that was bugging you is that it is probably better than anything you could do. Since you had no artwork to look at I wanted to help you with your profile which follows.

call of the raven

the bird is synominous with death and woe ... I was given the nickname because of my personality.
if you wish to know me further then remember you were warned about me.

OK, not bad. But here are just a FEW comments.

1. get some art up will ya?

2. Really it's not too bad of a bio if your going for "pretentious".

3. synonymous not synominous. For someone with such an eye for detail you really should run spell check.

4. Thanks for the warning man. I suspect you probably gave yourself the nickname Raven which really doesn't count.

Really wonderful work misu!

 12/12/03 @320

Only nitpicks I have is the ear seems a little blocky, or sharp, and the teeth/gums are to perfect. And the hair seems "hard" but the same affect can be created by hair spray... So...

Those critiques are pretty meaningless considering the detail and realism created in this work. Very pretty picture, and a very beautiful model used :)

The amount of work and time put into this picture shows me your either very passionate... Or totally nuts :) Either way, I like you already :)

I totally agree with wmorris comment about RavenVegeta.
At first the most of the flaws RavenVegeta spoke of are no flaws.
And second he made me really curious to take a look at his work.
But surprisingly enough he has no artwork available.

cai

 12/12/03 @681

all these criticisms about ears or whatever, i think that if it were perfect then it wud be pointless.
if u want "perfection", you may as well take a photograph. i think that there is too much emphasis on the technical side of digital art in general and not enough on expression and what the piece means.

oh ye, very nice piece of work :)

Avatar ReverendDuck

 12/12/03 @713

Photorealism at its best. I can't think of anything bad about this image.

Avatar Sketchy

 12/12/03 @744

Great work...As for a critique I think it would look even more realistic if there was more specularity on the forehead and nose giving it a little more of an oily shine. The thing that makes it look the most CG to me is the teeth. They seem to be too round and uniform in both shape and color...They look fake...Like dentures. I would try to make them a little more irregular where they meet the gums, and remember that real teeth are translucent especially where they get thin towards the cutting edge of the tooth. Also, most teeth aren't actually white...they are more of an ivory color. Other than that it is a very nice rendering.

wmorris

 12/13/03 @241

I applaud you misu for going down the rabbit hole of such reality. To try to undauntedly capture the realistic vision of humanity is a huge undertaking. We artists are all illusionists. Displacing shape and form with light and shadow. We humans, artists or not, are all experts of the human face, as we have stared at it all of our lives. So all of humanity is a critic. Yet few artists, let alone people, understand the intricacy of 3d art. I think the criticisms you receive are people that are trying to compare your work to a photograph or a memory of someones face. In otherwords, we know it is not real, but are searching our minds as to why it is not. Because it's just that good. + 9

 12/17/03 @460

This is a wonderful piece of work. I can hardly wait to try this program out myself (and that'll be soon).

In terms of a critique of your work. I think that it is very good. I love the fact that you included moles on her forehead and face. People have said that the ear is off, but in my opinion it is fine. The neck is off... again, I think its fine. If there is one thing that I find odd about this portrait, its the width of Sandra's shoulders. My mind imagines what she would do if she were to turn towards me and my mind is convinced that her shoulders will be too narrow for the size of her head. Only children are allowed to have big heads in comparison to their bodies :). This could though, be because of the drape of her garment. Or perhaps the garment appears too secondary to the overall composition, ie, not detailed enough to be realistic in comparison to the pain-staking rendering of Sandra herself. Perhaps. But overall, a magnificent piece.

Looks totally fantastic! The only thing that i can vaguely see wrong is the lack of shadow under the bottom edge of the lower lip. Though I can see she has a kind of lip gloss on, and since she is smiling her lower lip is pulled tighter, which i guess is the reason there's no shadow showed up there in there render. (just something i tend to notice; lips! hehe)

The skin and the detail are just fantastic, and the lighting setup is close to perfect!
Amazing work, i thought it was a photo looking at the thumbnail. Looking forward to seeing future work :) It is very rare to see 'life' in a 3d model! 3d modeling is just beyond me... *wanders back to tablet*
